New Scholarships 2008-09

Penn College and the Penn College Foundation made 905 scholarship awards, totaling $1,080,109, and established 13 new scholarship funds in 2008-09.

Liberty Excavators Endowed Scholarship established by this Camp Hill-based siteconstruction company to benefit students in heavy construction equipment technology, civil engineering technology or surveying.

The Williams Companies Scholarship established by this global energy and communications company headquartered in Tulsa, Okla., to support students in the electrical technology, electronics and computer engineering technologies and diesel equipment technology majors.

The Judith Folmar Memorial Scholarship established by family in memory of Judith Folmar for full- or part-time nontraditional students in the School of Business and Computer Technologies.

Good’s Tree Care Scholarship established by Good’s Tree Care, Inc. for students who have completed at least two semesters in the forest technology or landscape/horticulture technology majors.

Burger King Scholarship established by CR Restaurant Inc. for full-time students in the culinary arts and systems, culinary arts technology or hospitality management programs.

Wolyniec Construction Scholarship established by James and Joyce; and James Jr. and Michelle Wolyniec for students enrolled in the construction management bachelor-degree program; or in the building construction technology, civil engineering technology, heavy construction equipment technology or surveying technology associatedegree programs; or in the construction carpentry certificate program.

William H. Ealer Scholarship established by family and friends in memory of William H. Ealer for students in the building science and sustainable design: architectural technology construction bachelor-degree program or the architectural technology associate-degree program.

School of Health Sciences Endowed Scholarship established through annual fund gifts to the School of Health Sciences for second-semester or greater students enrolled in any of the School of Health Sciences programs who are participants in community service and/or extracurricular activities.

John Deere Foundation Scholarship established by the Deere & Co., Des Moines, Iowa, for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in welding and fabrication engineering technology or an associate degree in welding technology.

Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology Faculty Scholarship established by faculty in the electronics and computer engineering program for students enrolled in the program who participated and placed in the annual ECET Robotics Competition.

Emergency Medical Assistance Scholarship established by the state Attorney General’s Office to benefit students enrolled in the emergency medical services or paramedic technician programs.

Sen. Gene Yaw Scholarship established by Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour to recognize Yaw’s involvement at the college as solicitor for many years. Students who are returning military veterans and/or enrolled in the heavy equipment operator program will benefit from this scholarship.

Barbara Oldt Nursing Scholarship established through a bequest for Barbara Oldt to benefit students from Union, Snyder and Northumberland counties who are enrolled in the nursing program.
